Freedom Boat Club was founded in Sarasota, Florida in 1989 — long before “subscription” was a word people used about anything other than magazines. The model is simple: members pay a monthly fee and a one-off joining fee, and in return get access to a fleet of well-maintained powerboats, the training to drive them, and reciprocal access to every other affiliated club in the network.
It works because boats are bad assets to own and great assets to share. The American clubs have been refining the operation for thirty-five years. We brought the model to Loch Lomond because Scotland has the loch and the people — it just lacked the membership.

Why we are based here.
Bandry Bay sits on the western shore of Loch Lomond, between Luss and Arden — about 30 minutes from Glasgow city centre and reached directly off the A82. Sheltered water, a private jetty and our own beach, with the whole loch on the doorstep — and The Lomond Lounge, our floating event venue, moored just offshore.
